An integral part of a career journey is interviewing, and today we’d like to share some tips we’ve collected over the course of our work on how candidates can prepare for an interview.

Step 1: General Questions Typically, the interview commences with general inquiries about the candidate’s skills and background. Although the responses may already be present on the resume, engaging in a personal discussion can provide a new perspective.

Step 2: Assessment Two commonly employed methods for evaluating a candidate’s technical skills are independent tasks completed remotely or proctored testing. Candidates should be mentally prepared for both options.

Step 3: Provoking Questions An effective way to extract relevant skill information is by presenting hypothetical situations to the candidate and observing how they would handle them. This stage provides candidates with an opportunity to share past work experiences, motivations, and any other pertinent information contributing to success in the new role.

Step 4: Portfolio or Work Samples Candidates should be ready to showcase and explain examples of their work. This is especially crucial for designers (utilizing platforms like Behance, Dribbble, or personal websites) and developers (leveraging GitHub, open-source projects, etc.).

Important Advice to Candidates – Ask Questions! Asking questions demonstrates genuine interest in the vacancy and is viewed positively by recruiters. It is an opportunity for candidates to gain deeper insights into the role and the company, showcasing their enthusiasm and engagement.
